Ellis began his career in 1973 and opened his studio in 1980 in his hometown of Decatur. The Professional
Photographers of America, an international association, named him a Certified Professional in 1983.
He uses Decatur as his home base but completes his assignments worldwide. The photography areas in which he specializes are weddings, in-studio and in-home photography, fine art photography and photographic art.
He has received numerous awards for his photography, including the Kodak Gallery Award for outstanding
photographic achievement and the Fuji Masterpiece Award for reaching the highest level of his craft.
